Classes and Seminars

The NC State Campus Police Department is sponsoring the following post-training classes and special seminars:

Responding to Active Shooter
This hour-long seminar features a training video and discussion on how to respond to active shooters in a work environment or campus classroom setting.

Workplace Violence
Workplace Violence training is also offered as part of the HR Academy.  The class focuses on being aware of signals and behaviors that are indicative of potentially violent offenders in the workplace.  The Responding to Active Shooter video is also shown in this class.

Pepper Spray Training for the Public
Pepper spray is allowed on campus as a defensive tool, and we recommend receiving training in the proper use and care of pepper spray.  This class is an hour long, and can also include an example of practical deployment of the pepper spray in a safe, outdoor environment.

Alcohol and Drug Awareness
Specifically oriented toward the student population at NC State, these classes consist of information about alcohol and drug laws, practical demonstrations and exercises of DWI field sobriety tests and marijuana odor awareness under a controlled environment.  They also include safety tips on how to avoid personal risk, legal issues and university violations.

General Crime Prevention Lectures
These lectures usually last about one to two hours depending upon the client. The lecture will consist of campus and public safety demographics, avoidance techniques, and a few selective self-defense techniques.
