Mr. Timothy Johnson
Accreditation Manager, Professional Standards
Tim Johnson serves as the agency’s Professional Standards Manager and is primarily responsible for the department’s accreditation process and internal affairs function. Tim has thirty years of law enforcement experience and possesses an Advanced Law Enforcement Certification from the state’s North Carolina Training and Standards Commission. Tim began his law enforcement career with the Wilson Police Department and during his tenure; he served as the agency’s Accreditation Manager, Investigative Commander, District Commander and Operations Commander prior to his retirement in May of 2004. Tim has served as a certified assessor with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and has participated in on-site assessments of multiple law enforcement agencies.
Tim is a graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. He is also a graduate of the North Carolina State University Administrative Officer’s Management Program. He is also a veteran of the United States Army and served as a Non-Commission Officer with the 2nd Battalion 69th Armor, and 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment from 1976 until 1979.
